CHALLENGE: The original elevated driveway structure that passed thru the Porte Cochere at the main entrance was damaged and partially collapse from the Spring Quake in 2001. The Owners wanted to convert the damaged driveway into a more versatile area for entertainment that complimented the original house design. The construction site was located on a steep hill with very limited access.
SOLUTION: The remaining elevated driveway structure was removed and a new pedestrian terrace was constructed from the existing driveway to the front entry of the house. Under this terrace a pool lounge was added that opened out onto the new pool and spa level. The two levels were joined by a steel stair system and the view opened with a glass railing system, completing the transformation.
